Leech Therapy

The use of medicinal leeches (Hirudo medicinalis) in clinical settings. Leeches are FDA-approved medical devices used primarily in reconstructive and plastic surgery to restore blood flow to reattached tissue or skin flaps. Their saliva contains hirudin, a powerful anticoagulant. This is a legitimate, evidence-based medical practice.

Leech therapy is administered by surgeons and wound care specialists — not something you seek out independently. It is used post-surgery when venous congestion threatens tissue survival.
